What Podcasts are Tradespeople Listening to?

Recent years have seen an astounding increase in popularity for podcasts. Podcasts have become a potent tool for entertainment, education, and information as viewers remain captivated by audio content. Nearly 300 people participated in a recent Chadwicks survey, and the results shed light on the preferred podcasts and popular genres among Irish tradespeople.

We learned from the responses that a whopping 78% of the poll participants are devoted podcast listeners. This remarkable number highlights the increasing preference for podcasts as a content consumption method. Unquestionably, this rise in popularity has been fuelled by the accessibility, variety, and convenience of on-demand listening.

When it comes to the types of podcasts that captivate our audience, two genres took centre stage: Sports and Comedy

Sports Podcasts: Many survey participants expressed their fondness for podcasts about sports. The most often referenced shows are "Off The Ball" and "The Overlap," respectively. With soccer and GAA taking the most marks when it came to sport, golf & sports personally podcasts also were high up in the votes with mentions to Peter Crouch

Comedy Podcasts: Laughter truly is the best medicine, as comedy podcasts captured the hearts of our respondents. On sites across the country, humour serves as a much-needed respite from the daily grind with "The 2 Johnnies" and "Tommy Tiernan” keeping smiles on the faces of tradespeople nationwide according to our respondents.

The podcast Under Construction with Chadwicks, hosted by Donncha O'Callaghan and covering a variety of construction-related subjects, including gender equality, sustainability, self-builds, and more, was mentioned by 42% of respondents.

Over 80% of listeners report that they share the episode clips on social media and would tell their friends to subscribe. This suggests that social media and word-of-mouth are assisting this podcast as it grows.

The majority of respondents chose Spotify as the location where they access their podcasts, making it apparent that this platform is where people choose to listen to podcasts.
