Flooring - Engineered (30)

Engineered wood flooring looks like hardwood on the surface. Still, instead of a wood plank, it has a high-quality plywood core with a thin layer of hardwood flooring at the top. Engineered flooring is more affordable, but you cannot repair it to extend its lifespan. Engineered wood flooring has to feel and look identical to hardwood flooring on the surface. Still, its construction uses only a thin layer of hardwood to maintain its appearance and has a plywood core. You can do it yourself, and it's also available in interlocking or glued planks, making it very easy to install.

On the other hand, engineered oak flooring comes from a solid piece of milled wood. It entails nailing the wood planks on the subfloor, requiring skills. Since it is in solid wood, it can be sanded easily and refinished multiple times over its lifespan to maintain its appearance. You will need nails to nail the oak and wood flooring when installing these kinds of floors. The installation sometimes uses tongue and groove boards that lock together to create a tight seam.
