Cleaning – no one really enjoys it, but we spend a huge proportion of our lives doing it. Ironically, it is usually what appears to be a small cleaning job that takes the longest. Thankfully, there are a few tricks and tips you can use to cut your cleaning time significantly.
Toothpaste isn’t just for teeth
Toothpaste is actually great for revitalising the white rubber bit on your favourite trainers and it also works a treat for polishing engagement rings or other diamond jewellery.
Hair of the dog
Our lovely furry family members tend to shed a lot of hair which can be really tricky to get out of carpets and upholstery but a simple squeegee just like the one you use to clean your windows will gather it all up a treat .
Sofa so good
Use good old fashioned shoe polish to revitalise your leather couch. It will get rid of scuffs and scrapes and it will nourish the leather.
Instead of spending ages scrubbing away at your shower head simply pour some white vinegar into a plastic bag and secure it over the shower head with an elastic band. Leave it for an hour and then you simply have to wipe it with a cloth to get it shiny and clean.
With the best will in the world we’ve all been guilty of smashing a glass and you usually find tiny shards and remnants from wreckage for weeks to come. A simple slice of white bread can solve this problem though. Simply press the bread onto the surface where the glass broke and it will pick up all the little pieces like a magnet.
Microwaves may be handy but they are also a pain to clean but a simple trick can take all the hassle out of it for you. Halve a couple of lemons and put them in the microwave in a glass dish of water. Turn the power on and heat until the water starts to boil and then simply let it sit and steam clean the microwave for a minute. Any gunk or nasty mess will just wipe right off with no effort.
